Valley of Roof - Reeves Roof - Reeves Construction
Ahh, the valley of a roof. The long time culprit of many roofing leaks around the world. A valley of a roof is the area where two adjoining pitched sections of the roof come together creating a downward angle from which the water is dispersed off of the roof and onto the ground beneath. This is where you, as a homeowner, hopefully find the value in a seamless gutter system.

Stop Roof Leaks

Roof leaks can cause a lot of stress to a homeowner. Especially when there is seemingly no obvious cause. Roof leak detection is important and the entry point is not always an obvious and clear answer. The good news is that to a qualified and reputable roofer, it’s probably simple to both find and fix. And it’s probable that you do not need an entirely new roofing system.

Roof Leaks around Chimney

The vast majority of roof leaks come from a flashing of some sort. Many time this happens around the chimney flashing or skylights or in the wall flashing. In this case when talking about valleys, is probably due to the underlayment (if any) and the way the valley was originally cut.
Leaks in roof valleys can be prevented by taking some extra precautions like using proper and adequate underpayments. Products like 30lb felt with valley metal flashing will work. Or installing an ice-shield product along the entire valley will work as well. These provide the roofer with a sort of built in insurance against such leaks and the provide the homeowner with a peace of mind.
Hiring licensed Roofing Contractors to evaluate your leak is probably the smartest option if you have such a leak. They will be able to water test to see exactly where the leak is and they should be able to handle the job to ensure the leak stops.
In the above picture is where we — Reeves Construction, Roofing, Siding, Windows, Gutters — repaired a roofing leak for a homeowner in Greenville, South Carolina. Obviously the other roofer did not install any sort of underlayment in the valley which could have prevented such a leak.
If you live in Greenville / Spartanburg area and are experiencing roofing leaks, please consider calling us for a free roof evaluation and estimate.
