Murrells Inlet and The Impact From Recent Hail Storms

Murrells Inlet and The Impact From Recent Hail Storms

Murrells Inlet - MapMyrtle Beach and the Murrells Inlet area has experienced more storm related reports this year, mostly hail and wind damage reports, than in the previous years but after last month’s hail storm, we are starting to see the demands in affect for hail damage repairs.

Murrells Inlet – Massive Hail Storm

In Murrells Inlet on November 4, hail the size of golf balls came roaring from the sky and lasted for more than ten minutes. Which, according to the national average length of hail storms – just six minutes, that’s a long time. That hail storm left homeowners in Murrell’s Inlet in shock as their yards were covered in hard white hail stones and their vehicles covered with dents.

We tend to notice our cars, but what about our roofs or gutters or siding? We may not notice the damage their because we don’t tend to be on our roofs much. We often hear the question, “Does hail really damage our roof?” In short, it absolutely does!

Hail comes down with significant force, hits your asphalt shingles and knocks off the granular surface which is the protective layer of your roofing system. Hail creates a “bruising”  in the shingle which leaves your roof vulnerable to the elements and over time, this leads water damage and leaking issues in your home. When hail comes down like it did in Murrell’s Inlet, it is sure to cause damage to your home as well as your vehicle.

If you think that your home or property experienced storm damage, it’s important to have your property inspected by a reputable roofing company before you contact your insurance company to file a claim.

At Reeves, our certified insurance claims specialists will be happy to help you with your claim throughout the whole process. We work closely with you and your insurance company to help provide you with the best level of professional service available.
