House With Tree Damage

Just days ago, Fayetteville, North Carolina experienced massive storm damage from cells that blew through the Southeastern United States. These storms brought with it damaging hail, estimated high winds of 150mph and even tornadoes. At this point, 16 people were injured and approximately 200 homes were completely destroyed in the area. According to the North Carolina Dominion Power Company and the National Tornado Center, there was a  reported 3,100 customers who lost power in Pasquotank County. And Elizabeth City Public Utilities said approximately 4,000 people in the city lost power.

It’s hard to tell how extensive the storm damage will be with those who only had hail or high winds until homeowners begin calling roofing – hail specialists – companies and connecting them with their insurance claims adjuster. It’s estimated that there will probably be around 1,000 Hail Reports / wind claims in the Greenville, North Carolina region.

The Storm Prediction Center notes that these threats come in a year that has been — so far — one of the quietest for tornadoes in U.S. history. Already, the country has set a record for going the longest into a new year without a tornado fatality.

If you find yourself in the path of the rest of these storms moving Eastward, please follow extreme safety cautions and make due preparations for yourself and your family. We have created a post here on How to Prepare for A Severe Thunderstorm.
