Homes in the area have been bombarded with storms recently. If you had hail, you have hail damage and should have your roof inspected by a licensed roofing contractor in your area.
The impact of hail can cause major damage to your roof and destroy up to 90% of the life left in your roof shingles. The granules that protect the asphalt shingles from sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) light are often knocked loose or embedded into the fiberglass causing potential exposure to the elements. The asphalt will deteriorate very quickly once exposed to the sun. Any accelerated granule loss will significantly reduce the life of the shingle. This is why insurance companies pay for hail and wind claims.
Think you have hail damage? Look for missing areas of granules on your roof or see if your gutters are full of granules. You may also look for any crescent shaped bruises on the shingles or dents in flashing, ridges and vent stacks which would indicate that the roof has suffered damaging hail.
